What is a Photofacial?

The Photofacial uses light energy that is selectively absorbed into pigmentation of the skin. The heating of these cells causes them to be reabsorbed by the body, in time fading away. By heating the skin it is stimulated to function more efficiently, therefore producing a firmer, fresher complexion, reducing pore size and evening out skin texture, tone and colour.

At the Advanced Skin Care Clinic in Edmonton, we use Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulse Light). Lumecca operates using photohermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. During the treatment our certified technician will apply a cool gel to the skin and gently and quickly move the laser over the face. Patients with uneven pigment or vascular lesions, will notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin.

What areas can be treated with Lumecca?

Our Edmonton Lumecca Photofacial treatments are available for both men and women for the following:

  • Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
  • Sun damage
  • Vascular lesions (spider veins, port wine stains, leg telangiectasia)
  • Rosacea (redness)
  • Freckles

Will there be any downtime after my Lumecca Photofacial appointment?

There is no downtime after a Lumecca photofacial treatment, however, some redness is common and it is very important to protect treated areas with sunscreen. Over the course of the next 24-48 hours after treatment you may see a darkening of pigmented spots.

How many treatments and how often should I come for Lumecca?

The number of Lumecca treatments will vary depending on the condition of your skin and your desired outcome.
