What is a Photofacial?

The Photofacial uses light energy that is selectively absorbed into pigmentation of the skin. The heating of these cells causes them to be reabsorbed by the body, in time fading away. By heating the skin it is stimulated to function more efficiently, therefore producing a firmer, fresher complexion, reducing pore size and evening out skin texture, tone and color.

At the Advanced Skin Care Clinic in Edmonton, we use an IPL (Intense Pulse Light) photofacial machine. During the treatment our certified technician will apply a cool gel to the skin and gently and quickly move the laser over the face. For patients with problem skin such as acne or acne scarring, or aging skin; scars, fine wrinkles and uneven pigment will fade away.

What areas can be treated with a Photofacial?

Our Edmonton photofacial treatments are available for both men and women for the following:

  • acne scarring
  • age spots
  • facial veins
  • large pores
